New flash cart in development
Re: New flash cart in development
I'm eager to hear the current status as well, and have already PM'd Zoranc to offer help. Hope everything's going well, we're cheering you on!
Re: New flash cart in development
I'll give you an update. It's always the same update since May 2016.
My partner (who never communicates exept with me, maybe he only exists in my head) is happy with the current prototype of cart/flasher but he is waiting to receive another version of cart/flasher prototype from China (with slow shipping).
Hopefully we will be ready to sell in the next few weeks.
Goes silent for 2 months
This is humour/banter

Sorry people! Yeah it was a long time without update. Reasons - private problems and a long summer vacation. We do those here (I meant the vacation )!
Anyways now we are back on tracks. Hope to change gears up, and looking to post some update in the coming week.

Love to see some new revisions, hopefully the final ones though haha
Re: New flash cart in development
The slightly redesigned cart PCB got populated now (pfew that took a while). It should be much easier to plug it into original cart now. Here is how it looks:
Now I am waiting for a feedback regarding operation and functionality. It seems that a reliability problem would be addressed too, so I am very happy.
If someone is interested in the work of my friend, he can take a look at the webshop with his creations: http://www.a2heaven.com/webshop/. He will probably sell the carts and the flasher there too.

I took a look on his webshop and I am wondering now what the prices would be of the flashcart and the flasher? Did they change from the initial price you guys had in mind?

Thanks for the update and link to where the carts will eventually be sold! I have money that's been burning a hole in my pocket just waiting for one of these.

Re: New flash cart in development
People should take the time before the flash cart releases to find a common game that can be used for its shell—as I understand it, production of new shells is far too expensive to justify. So assuming you don't have any common doubles, this is a good time to hunt for a common game with a ripped up label...
Re: New flash cart in development
Short update on the current status. Its both good and bad.
As you saw from my last post we got the redesigned cart produced. It is only layout changes no functional/connectivity changes whatsoever. So it should had run fine, right? Well turns out one of the traces wasn't properly soldered hence the thing doesn't work. Unfortunately due to misunderstanding with the PCB shop, it was a single cart that was produced. Hence we can't check if it's a random problem (those things happen with the PCB production) or a systematic one.
Also there is a delay in producing those, partially due to personal issues that my friend experiences at the moment.
On the bright side, one of the reliability problems that the old revision experienced was due to a software bug in the VHDL code. A change was implemented and briefly tested on the old cart, and it seems to fix the issue.
