Japanese translations & data dumps

Post by The_Gnomer »

Hey guys I'm new to the Pokemon mini scene and as I haven't really researched into it yet I was wondering if you needed me to do Japanese translations of the games and data dumps I'm not a fully fluent Japanese speaker but I'm decent at it and getting better.

Thanks for reading,

Heya, Max!

Hm, I've seen that there are patches already made for most of them, but it looks like Pichu Bros hasn't yet been added to the bottom of the list over here, so perhaps it's still a work in progress. Those patches are unofficial, so they're not denoted on this page, which lists all of the games which have officially been released by Nintendo.

There's a decent amount of homebrew out there, but I haven't heard of any that's Japanese-only. I'm pretty new here myself, so hopefully someone else more knowledgeable than myself can chime in. :D I'm mainly here to pitch in with some pixel art, so I've not looked into translations and patches much as of yet. I'm sure your help would be very much appreciated, and I for one welcome you to the board.

I just got my first mini in the mail this week and am super impressed with this little piece of tech history, so I'm glad to see others who are interested in keeping it active!

High fives!

Pichu Bros has been translated, we just stalled during the graphics edits and patching it.

Any chance that could be resumed? Was it also work of MrBlinky and you?

It was, snesy did a couple too. I think I have the data somewhere, would have to find it.. I did most of the title screens but not much else is edited yet. Need to get/recreate the font Mr.Blinky used for the other games' regular bubble text, too, since I never got the actual file from him.

I stopped to work on making the tool we used for it better, then school took over my life and I haven't finished that tool. The currently release is viable for getting this translation out the door, though, if I can get all the stuff together.

If you guys would like any assistance with graphical edits I'm more than happy to do it for you. If I can get a spritesheet dump of the graphics and a text file with the translations, I can get that straightened out no prob.

My Japanese is incredibly rusty, and I only learned Katakana and Hiragana (the latter being the strongest), so if the translations have context (like a before and after either side-by-side or one line above the other) I can be sure I'm putting the translations in the right places; it would help tons. :)

Also, if anyone has scans of Japanese manuals that needs to be done, I'm all for it. I especially want to get my hands on Breeder since I'm having a blast and suppose there may be some aspects not covered in the in-game tutorial. (I didn't realize I could slap the console in my palm to call my little buddy to get petties and scritches! I wonder what else I'm not aware of?)
