It was announced at The Nintendo Show in London, UK September 1 2001, - Pokemon Mini will be launching in Japan at the end of November 2001, and in Europe Spring 2002. American launch date has not yet been announced. - The unit will sell for 4800 yen, or about $40 US, while the cartridges will cost 1200 yen, or about $10. Included with the unit will be the Pokemon Party Mini game. - Pokémon Mini is blue with a transparent front, and approximately the same size as Pocket Pikachu. It has inbuilt rumble, shock sensor, infrared sensor, a clock, and can be used as a stopwatch. The infra red sensor can link up to 5 other Pokemon Minis. The screen is a crisp black-and-white LCD. - Rather than being a Tamagotchi clone, it's a gaming console like the Gameboy. It uses mini cartridges for the games. ** Stats ** Size - 74mm height, by 58mm width, 23mm depth Weight - 70g Screen - 96x64 LCD display Controls - D-pad, three buttons (two on the face with one large "shoulder" C button on the right side of the unit) Shock sensor - Registers how many times you shake the unit Infrared port - Works up to 1.5 metres, communicating with up to five other Pokemon Minis Rumble - It shakes! Real time clock - It can also work as a stop watch ** Games ** - Pokemon Pinball Much like the GBC version, this too uses rumble effects. There are 90 different stages, but that probably doesn't mean different tables. It makes use of the shoulder button for one handed playing. - Pokemon Party Mini Like Mario Party, this is a collection of mini-games. Including racing and dancing boxing. One of the games is Hitmonchan boxing, where you shake the unit as fast as possible. This is the only game of the announced using the infra red port. Link two (or more?) Pokemon Minis up for multi-player. Then play on your own, and link up again to see who won. - Pokemon Puzzle Collection This is a collection of 80 puzzles of a few different types, including shuffle style puzzling. - Pokemon Zany Cards This is a solitare kind of card game, and not a collecting game like the card game for Gameboy. Several different kind of games are included. All the titles of these games are subject to change. ** Rumours ** Unconfirmed stuff. The infra red sensor is rumoured to be able to link up to mobile phones to download stuff. Also rumoured to be able to link up with Gameboy Advance to download games from Pokemon cards via the E-reader. Both of these things probably never will happen, but it would be nifty! ** Credit / Links ** Check out my little site for pics and more: http://pokemonmini.cjb.net Info gathered from: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/ http://gamespot.com/gamespot/stories/news/0,10870,2810118,00.html http://www.gameboydojo.com/ http://www.nintendoeye.com/news.php?action=detailednews&id=122 http://www.dojomedia2.com/index.php http://www.uknside.com/cgi-bin/news/fullnews.cgi?newsid999356631,8807, http://www.uknside.com/cgi-bin/news/fullnews.cgi?newsid999373443,37047, http://pocket.ign.com/news/38015.html http://cn.tech.yahoo.com/010906/19/myg2.html http://www.coremagazine.com/news/index.php3 ** Copyright ** Copyright 2001 Titney.
