Hello, I saw that Lupin has built a backlit version and was wondering how to do this. Thanks!

Backlighting the pm

He used an electric foil for displays, they usally need 110 volts so there has to be a converter for the voltage too. But I am sure he will give more details after returning from his vacation :)

Backlighting the pm

The basic process is described here:

http://www.hermannseib.com/english/synt ... vediso.htm

The greatest problem is to find an inverter that is small enough to fit inside the PM (see the inverter on that page, it's quite large).

This will most likely work:

After you remove the reflective foil of the PM you clean the back of the display and make sure there is no dust inside the PM, then put back the display into the PM and add the EL-Foil and the inverter on the back of the display. There isn't much room there but you can remove some of the transparent casing to get a bit of room (just de-solder the components from the inverter pcb and use wires to connect everything inside the PM).

I was only able to fit it inside the PM by completely desoldering the PCB and then i used wires to wire everything up inside the PM (the PCB just is too thick).
